KUALA LUMPUR – The issue of footballers experiencing salary arrears seems to have no end. Several Sarawak United FC players claim to have not been paid for four months, forcing some of them to be evicted from their homes.
According to a statement on Twitter, the Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) said they have received reports from several Sarawak players regarding the ongoing issue.

“On June 14, PFAM had sent out a notice to Sarawak United FC to claim arrears for players who have complained. A follow-up notice was also sent to the club on July 8,” the statement said.
Even though PFAM has received a response from the club’s management to settle the arrears, full settlement has not been made until now.
“Regretfully in June, some players were forced to face a notice to evict their residences as the club had not paid the rent.
“The club’s management should focus fully on carrying out their responsibilities to avoid heavy punishments on the team.
“PFAM takes the matter of salary arrears seriously and will refer this issue to the National Dispute Resolution Chamber in the near future,” said the association.
Sarawak United FC, currently 11th in the Super League above last place Penang FC.
Previously, Premier League side Perak FC were slammed with a six-point deduction for the 2022 season for failure to settle salary arrears of players and officials belonging to the main and reserve teams as of November 2021. – The Vibes, August 24, 2022.
