KUALA LUMPUR – The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) today returned to forge cooperation with Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM), which saw the telecommunications company becoming FAM and Harimau Malaya’s official technology partner for a year until June 2024.

According to a FAM statement, the development proved TM’s high commitment to the development of football in the country after the company was directly involved in the industry of the sport at the domestic level in the past two decades.

“The deal will see the return of TM after last being involved in the collaboration in 2020 which proved the cordial relations between FAM and the telecommunication company should be continued.

“Obviously, FAM is happy with the cooperation with TM which would certainly bring in enormous benefits to the planning and development of the national football squad,” said FAM president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin in the statement.

Elaborating further, Hamidin is optimistic the strategic relation between FAM and TM would reap encouraging sponsorship revenue, apart from giving TM the opportunity to promote its products to be enjoyed by millions of fans in the country.

Meanwhile, TM chief marketing officer Shanti Jusnita Johari said the collaboration will enable TM to continue its role in the development of football as the number one sport in the country.

She said TM is leading in the country’s telecommunication technology evolution all this while building a Digital Malaysia and now they are undergoing a transformation towards a human-centred technology company.

“The move will be instilled in the cooperation by bringing a new experience to the national team’s supporters through digital technology as well as communications services and content,” she said.

Earlier, the cooperation agreement was signed by FAM secretary-general Noor Azman Rahman and TM branding and marketing president Andrew Pinto and was witnessed by FAM marketing and sponsorship committee chairman Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar and Shanti Jusnita.

Also present were the two FAM deputy presidents, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi and Datuk S. Sivasundaram, FAM executive committee member Md Dali Wahid as well as TM Group senior management officers. – Bernama, June 9, 2023
