UNITED States President Donald Trump has claimed that Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza have agreed to completely disarm under what he described as a historic peace agreement, marking what he said was a major step towards ending the conflict and establishing a new Palestinian administration in the territory.

In a post on his Truth Social platform on Thursday, Trump said the Board of Peace had reached a landmark agreement under which Hamas and all other armed factions in Gaza would surrender their weapons through a phased disarmament process.

“Today, the Board of Peace reached a HISTORIC agreement for Hamas to COMPLETELY DISARM and all other armed groups in Gaza. This is a major step toward lasting PEACE and SECURITY,” AFP reported him writing.

Trump said the framework provides for Israeli forces to withdraw from Gaza once the disarmament process has been completed.

He added that an International Stabilisation Force would then work alongside a newly established Palestinian police force to assume responsibility for maintaining security and administering the enclave.

“Once disarmament is complete, Israeli forces will withdraw, and the International Stabilization Force will work with a new Palestinian police force to take responsibility for Gaza,” he said.

Trump described the agreement as a pivotal milestone towards achieving lasting peace and security in Gaza following months of conflict.

However, AFP was unable to independently verify Trump's claim or confirm the existence and terms of the reported agreement. - July 31, 2026
