SINGAPORE – Visitors applying to enter Singapore under the Air Travel Pass (ATP) and Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) schemes will need to have travel insurance for Covid-19-related treatment and hospitalisation in the republic, with a minimum coverage of S$30,000 (RM91,028).
The requirement will take effect from January 31 at 11.59pm, said the Health Ministry in a statement yesterday.
“The travel insurance will help them pay the cost of their medical treatment in Singapore. Visitors can purchase the travel insurance from Singapore-based or overseas insurers.”
A list of available insurance products can be found on the SafeTravel website.
Singapore has an RGL arrangement with five countries, including Malaysia, and six areas in China.
The ministry said the republic will enforce additional border-control measures given the emergence of new coronavirus variants and worsening health crisis worldwide.
Starting January 24 at 11.59pm, it said, all travellers, including citizens and permanent residents, will need to take a Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test upon arrival.
The prevailing stay-home notice (SHN), including a PCR test at the end of the notice period, will continue, it said.
To expedite testing at the airport, travellers are encouraged to register and pre-pay for screening prior to departing for Singapore.
Starting tomorrow at 11.59pm, all citizens and permanent residents returning from the United Kingdom and South Africa will be subjected to a seven-day self-isolation at their residence on top of their 14-day SHN at dedicated facilities, said the ministry.
Singapore yesterday confirmed five new cases of local Covid-19 transmission and 19 imported cases.
The republic’s Covid-19 tally now stands at 59,083. – Bernama, January 17, 2021
