SINGAPORE – Singapore’s Health Ministry reported 23 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, with one involving a nurse at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH).
In full data released late last night, the ministry said following the detection of the case, TTSH has locked down the affected ward and tested patients and staff who had been in the ward.
“So far, we have detected four more cases who have tested preliminarily positive for Covid-19 infection. These include a doctor and three patients who are being cared for in the same ward,” it said.
As a precautionary measure, the ministry said all staff who treated the infected patients, as well as all visitors, patients and staff working in the ward, will be placed on quarantine.
The nurse, a 46-year-old female Philippine national, received her first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine on January 26, and the second dose on February 18.
Of the 23 new cases, three were in the community, 20 were imported while none was in migrant worker dormitories, bringing the total number of infections here to 61,086.
Thus far, the ministry has classified 2,353 of the reported cases as community, 4,217 cases as imported, and 54,516 involving dorm residents.
In all, 60,718 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
There are currently 112 confirmed cases still in hospital, with one in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
A total of 226 people who have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19 have been isolated and are being cared for at community care facilities.
Thus far, 30 people have died in the country from complications due to Covid-19.
