KUALA LUMPUR – The Securities Commission (SC) today announced two new appointments to its leadership structure, following the resignation of two senior staff earlier this month.

Yew Yee Tee will assume the post of general counsel starting July 1, taking over from Chee Fei Meng who has opted not to renew her contract that ended on April 15, the commission said in a statement.

The commission also appointed Shamsul Bahriah Shamsudin as executive director of intermediary & fund supervision; the post currently held by Yew.

The SC confirmed the resignation of managing director Foo Lee Mei and executive director of digital strategy & innovation Chin Wei Min.

“The SC would also like to stress that contrary to recent media speculation, the resignation of its managing director and general counsel are not linked to, and were made prior, to the announced resignation of its executive chairman yesterday.”

Yesterday, the Finance Ministry announced that it had appointed former deputy finance minister Datuk Awang Adek Hussin as SC chairman effective June 1, following the resignation of Datuk Syed Zaid Albar. – The Vibes, April 29, 2022
