SOCIAL activist Chee Heng Kuan better known as Uncle Kentang has appealed for help to fund the studies of 19-year-old Penny who after months of greiving, now wants to continue her studies.

In a Facebook post, he said he had promised Penny's mother Nguyen that he would look after her.

"I promised Nguyen I would care for Penny. Nguyen is in heaven now. Penny wants to go to college and make her mum proud.

"I must see to it ...it is a promise I made to a dying lady. That was my assurance for her to die in peace ... her only worry was her daughter.

"Hugging Nguyen, I whispered into her ear that I would care for Penny. We then cried together," said Chee.

Chee said he will be Penny's 'old bodyguard' and always protect her.

"If you want to help Penny, please contact me (018-268 3999). She is 19-years-old this year. May her mummy rest in peace. I will stand by my promise. I walk the cancer wards bringing hope and promises," he added. - November 9, 2025
