POLICE in Mukah district in central Sarawak arrested five Form 5 male students from a secondary school for allegedly assaulting a fellow student.
The five, who are studying and staying as boarders, had allegedly repeatedly beaten up another Form 5 boy over misunderstandings surrounding the washing of pants in the school boarding quarters.
Mukah police chief Muhammad Rizal Alias today said the arrests were made following a report lodged by the victim.
The assaults allegedly took place over two separate attacks on March 25 in the male students’ boarding quarters, he said in a press statement.
“The victim in his report said the group had attacked him over misunderstandings over some clothing.
“The victim said the attackers had accused him of having caused their pants to get lost while doing the laundry.
“The victim suffered bodily injuries including on his chest, stomach and private parts,” he said.
Rizal said the arrested students have been placed under remand pending further investigations, while the victim was referred to the hospital for a medical examination. – The Vibes, March 31, 2024
