A 27-year-old woman was forced to send nude photographs of herself to secure a loan from loan sharks to make overdue payments for her car.
Relating her ordeal to MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong today, the woman, identified as 'K' said she found the moneylender via social media.
She said she asked them for a RM3,000 loan, but was asked to pay processing fees of RM1,000 to secure the loan.
After the RM1,000 payment, the loan sharks still refused to give her the loan and instead asked her to send nude photographs of herself.
"Even after I sent the photographs, I still did not get the money. The loan sharks
"Now they are asking for more or else they will send the photos to my family," she told a press conference.
Another victim told the press conference that he borrowed money from 14 loan sharks to help fund his online business.
"I had already settled 12 with the help of family members. But the remaining two are demanding way more than what was borrowed," said the 23-year-old.
He added that he had only borrowed around RM20,000 in total from all the loan sharks but had repaid around RM49,000.
Both cases are still being monitored by Chong, who added that legal aid will be given if needed. - May 13, 202
