THE driver of a Ferrari 258 Spider and his passenger escaped unhurt when their luxury sports car burst into flames after crashing into a metal barrier at KM110 of the Kuantan-Segamat stretch near the Gadak bridge yesterday.
According to reports, the incident occurred about 10.40am when the car which was part of a 12-car convoy from Singapore skidded and crashed.
Rompin Police Chief, Sharif Sharif Mondoi, said the convoy was heading to Cherating when the incident occurred.
Investigations found that the car lost control, skidded and crashed into the barrier.
As result of the accident, the car caught fire and was completely burnt.
The driver of the car, a 34-year-old Singaporean, and his girlfriend, a 33-year-old Hong Kong national, managed to escape unhurt.
Following the accident, the driver was charged under Regulation 10 of the Road Traffic Regulations 1959 (LN 166/59) for reckless driving and fined RM300. – May 17, 2025
