ALL 23 Malaysian volunteers who were released after being detained by Israeli forces while participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission to Gaza, arrived safely at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 (KLIA1) here tonight.

Checks found that the Emirates EK342 flight from Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), which carried the group of activists, had landed at around 10.07pm.

Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, and Communications Minister, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, were also present at the KLIA1 Arrivals Hall to welcome the group of volunteers.

In addition to supporters and family members, more than 50 media practitioners were also at the location to cover the return of the volunteers.

Earlier, KLIA District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Azman Shari'at, said his department had increased security at the location due to the presence of many members of the public, thus ensuring that the arrival process of the volunteer group went smoothly.

"More than 30 officers and police personnel were assigned to the Arrivals Hall area for this purpose," he said.

Among the participants in the GSF humanitarian mission to Gaza were Datin Seri Heliza Helmi and her sister, Nur Hazwani Afiqah; Nurfarahin Romli (Farah Lee), Danish Nazran Murad, Zizi Kirana, Nurul Hidayah Mohd Amin (Ardell Aryana), PU Rahmat, Musa Nuwayri, Iylia Balqis Suhaimi, Sul Aidil, Haikal Abdullah, Muaz Zainal, Zulfadhli Khiruddin and Rusydi Ramli.

In addition, Razali Awang, Norhelmi Ab Ghani, Mohd Asmawi Mukhtar, Norazman Ishak, Zainal Rashid Ahmad, Muhammad Abdullah or Ustaz Mad Kecik, Muhammad Hareez Adzrami (Haroqs), Muhd ​​Haikal Luqman Zulkefli and Dr Taufiq Mohd Razif.

The GSF was joined by more than 500 activists from 45 countries who sailed to Gaza as a symbol of solidarity and efforts to break the Israeli blockade, in addition to bringing humanitarian aid in the form of food, milk and medicine to the residents of the region. – October 7, 2025
