THE government will hold further discussions with various relevant parties on the issue of unregistered houses of worship to find a comprehensive solution, taking into account aspects of community harmony, compliance with the law and religious sensitivity.

MADANI Government Spokesperson, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, said the matter was discussed at the Cabinet meeting today.

"Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered the Ministry of Unity to coordinate a further discussion on the issue of unregistered houses of worship.

"It involves the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Federal Territories Department and other interested parties," said Fahmi in the weekly press conference of the Ministry of Communications.

Previously, the government stated its stance against the construction of houses of worship that fail to comply with regulations.

The Prime Minister added that all houses of worship, regardless of religion, are subject to existing laws and any violations must be dealt with prudently through legal channels. – May 6, 2026
