KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Umno is ready to lock horns with Bersatu in the coming general election, said its chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

He welcomed Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s statement that the party is ready to face Umno as the latter announced that it will be contesting in all seats it won in the last general election.

“In Sabah, we have Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), but when the party (Umno) makes the decision that we contest in a seat, then Sabah Umno has no choice.

“Umno has to defend all the seats that it contests in, and empower the party,” the Kinabatangan MP said in a statement today.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin said Bersatu is ready to face Umno in the coming election as Umno is reluctant to collaborate with Bersatu in the coming election.

However, he said for Sabah Bersatu, he has given the mandate to its chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor to discuss among GRS members (Perikatan Nasional, Barisan Nasional, Parti Bersatu Sabah) regarding seat allocations.

Bung Moktar, who is also Sabah deputy chief minister, said that as party head, he is ready to face any party in the election, including Bersatu.

“We have been through various huge challenges, we have won and lost, and then we have won it all.

“So, facing any party in the coming general election is not a huge challenge,” Bung Moktar said, adding that the party’s machinery in all levels should be ready to face the election. – The Vibes, October 3, 2021
