KUALA LUMPUR – Police have busted a local drug trafficking syndicate, seizing MDMA and ketum worth RM210,570 as well as arresting five locals in a series of raids over the last two days.
In a statement yesterday, Sentul district police chief Beh Eng Lai said police first arrested a 23-year-old man at a condominium in Jalan Kuching and seized 500ml of MDMA on Tuesday.
Based on information gained from the first arrest, a follow-up raid was made on a house in Petaling Jaya yesterday, where another three suspects, aged between 14 and 28, were arrested along with 3,300ml of MDMA drugs, mainly laced in e-liquid bottles marketed for vape devices, and 7,000ml of ketum water in several clear plastic bags.
A 34-year-old local man was arrested at a condominium in Jalan Cemur here on the same day with another 410ml of MDMA.
Police found that two out of the five suspects have prior criminal records, while another tested positive for methamphetamine.
All the suspects have been allegedly trafficking drugs since 2021. A follow-up investigation is being carried out to find out the source of the drugs and other possible members of the syndicate.
They are all being detained for seven days from yesterday, and will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act for trafficking. – The Vibes, May 19, 2022
