KUALA LUMPUR – A Pakistani painter was fined RM4,000 or jailed two months by the magistrate’s court here today after he pleaded guilty to uploading a video recording of him threatening to shoot and rape a family member of his countryman on Tik Tok.
Magistrate Fardiana Haryanti Ahmad Razali handed down the sentence on Sheikh Bilal Ahmed, 25, after he pleaded guilty to threatening Muhammad Adnan by uploading a video on TikTok and said in Urdu to shoot the victim’s family member and rape his sister.
He allegedly committed the offence at a restaurant in Jalan Ipoh in Chow Kit here on June 17 under Section 506 of the Penal Code read together with Section 507 of the same code which carries a maximum jail sentence of seven years or a fine or both.
Deputy public prosecutor, Nidzuwan Abd Latip applied for the commensurating punishment to teach the accused a lesson as it was a serious offence.
Lawyer Muhammad Syafiq Salleh representing the accused applied for a fine on the grounds that his client failed to control his emotions after being depressed because he had to pay protection money to the victim every day for four years.
“The victim had collected money wrongfully from the accused. When the accused returned home the man would be standing in front of the house and demanded a portion of the protection money.
“This has put some pressure on him. My client apologised for his actions and promised not to repeat the offence,” he added. – Bernama, June 23, 2022
