KUALA LUMPUR – PKR’s election audit has confirmed tampering attempts amid much drama over allegations of violations during the polls.

Party election committee chairman Zaliha Mustafa said audit findings revealed that there had been attempts to tamper with the results.

“However, such problems have been identified and audit experts suggested for us to update our voting records,” she said in a statement.

“Necessary actions have been implemented following results of the digital analysis.

“The issue does not affect the wins of a majority of central and branch candidates.”

The official tally can be viewed here.

Previously, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim assured members of the full audit process being carried out by an independent firm, following feedback from its complaints committee panel.

After the panel found that violations had taken place in Ampang PKR, newly elected division chief Daing Muhammad Reduan Bachok was disqualified as a candidate for the post and the the division had held fresh polls on June 29.

Accusations of vote-buying in the division later surfaced yet again, with PKR member Muhammad Syafiq Zulkifli alleging ethical misconduct involving Datuk Hans Isaac.

Hans, who has since denied the accusations, managed to edge out his closest competitor Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman, or Altimet, by two votes in the election redo.

PKR communication director Fahmi Fadzil said that the party is set to conduct its congress from July 15 to 17 in anticipation of a possible dissolution of Parliament and national polls after July 31.

The online polls had taken place between May 18 and 20 while physical voting was between May 13 and 17. – The Vibes, July 4, 2022
