BALIK PULAU – A building cleaner was found murdered with stab wounds in Bukit Gedung here last night in an apparent case of revenge, police said.

Balik Pulau district police chief Superintendent Kamarul Rizal Jenal, who confirmed the incident, said four suspects had been arrested for alleged involvement in the murder.

He said the body of the migrant, aged 32, was found in a squatter area near Bayan Baru, at around 11pm last night.

He said police officers went to the area following a tip-off about a fight that broke out.

“We believe the murder is motivated by revenge and investigations are ongoing,” he said.

Kamarul said upon arrival, the cops found a body with stab wounds and began combing the area for evidence before being led to four suspects aged between 31 and 45.

He said the suspects, who are all migrants, were found loitering around the murder scene, adding that they have been remanded for seven days.

Kamarul said initial investigations revealed that the murder was an act of retribution after the victim allegedly scammed the other migrant workers.

Kamarul added that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The suspects, he said, worked in different sectors, as one is a cleaner, followed by a grocery assistant, a factory staffer, and a construction worker. – The Vibes, August 22, 2022
