KOTA KINABALU – Sabah STAR has called for the state government to bar PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang from entering Sabah following his recent statement that non-Muslims and non-Bumiputeras are the root of corruption in the country.
Its vice-president Kenny Chua said Sabahans generally reject any form of extremism that fuels racial and religious discords.
“Our (Sabah STAR) stance is clear that any persons who have a history of making statements that offend people of other races or religions should be blacklisted from entering Sabah.
“Sabahans are peace-loving people and we respect the faiths (of others) and different races,” he said in a statement here today.
Sabah STAR is part of the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, the alliance which also appointed Sabah PAS leader Aliakbar Gulasan as an assemblyman.
Recently, Hadi had branded non-Muslims and non-Bumiputeras as the root cause for corruption in the country and blamed apathy among Malay voters for causing non-Malays and liberals to gain federal power in the 14th general election.
Reports picked up the PAS president’s Facebook post that put the focus on non-Muslims and non-Bumiputeras as forming the majority of those involved in corruption.
Earlier today, Parti Rakyat Sarawak vice-president Datuk Liwan Lagang also called on the Sarawak government to bar Hadi from entering Sarawak for life.– The Vibes, August 23, 2022
