KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) will work together with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), said Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, ending much speculation over Umno ties with Bersatu in the state.

He said negotiations with the Bersatu-led GRS are going smoothly and will be concluded soon.

“Sabah BN will work with GRS in GE15 this time. Talks are now going smoothly and will be concluded in the nearest time,” said the Sabah Umno chief here today.

It appears the Bersatu-Umno cooperation will continue in Sabah, unlike in the peninsula, where Umno and Bersatu will go against each other in the election.

Bung had previously constantly evaded commenting on cooperation matters, where he had only simply confirmed that talks were being carried out smoothly with GRS.

His confirmation came in light of Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Barisan Nasional chairman, having stated that “GRS will back BN candidates in GE15”.

Hajiji, meanwhile, has not responded in a similar tone, only confirming that GRS will work with BN in the general election.

But Zahid’s statement has riled up a GRS component party, PBS.

In response to Zahid, PBS vice Youth chief Sharun Nidzam said it is better for PBS to work with Warisan.

Sharun, when asked by The Vibes whether this is the party’s stand, clarified that this is only his personal view.
