KUANTAN – Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail announced the dissolution of the 14th Pahang assembly effective today, to allow state elections to be held simultaneously with the 15th general election.
Wan Rosdy said he was granted an audience with the Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to seek consent for the dissolution of the state assembly.
He said that Tengku Hassanal, in accordance with Clause (2) Article 26 Part Two of the Pahang constitution, has given his consent for the state assembly to be dissolved, effective today.
“Today was chosen to allow the tabling and debate on the state’s 2023 budget to be completed first, thus obtaining approval to be implemented next year,” he said.
He said this at a special press conference at Wisma Sri Pahang here today, which was also attended by state secretary Datuk Seri Sallehuddin Ishak and all members of the state executive council.
Meanwhile, Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man announced the dissolution of the 14th Perlis assembly, also effective today.
Azlan said the dissolution of the state assembly had received the consent of the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail to allow the state election to be held simultaneously with GE15.
He said that he and state assembly speaker Datuk Hamdan Bahari were granted an audience with the Perlis ruler at Galeri Diraja Arau at 3pm yesterday to seek consent for the dissolution of the state assembly.
“Alhamdulillah, His Royal Highness has given his consent and the date of dissolution of the state assembly, effective today,” he said in a press conference at his office here today. – Bernama, October 14, 2022
