SANDAKAN – Barisan Nasional (BN) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will have a 50-50 split of parliamentary seats for the 15th general election (GE15), says Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
He assured that there will be no seat clashes with this formula, which will be made official through a deal to be sealed soon.
“There will be no clashing of seats (between BN and GRS). We will only clash with the opposition parties.
“It will be a win-win for us (BN and GRS). Meaning, we will divide the seats 50-50,” he said today, adding that discussion between BN and GRS parties on the matter had started six months ago.
Bung Moktar was speaking at a press conference after launching the Kinabatangan Umno delegates’ meeting in Sandakan Community Hall here today.
The incumbent Kinabatangan MP also said BN and GRS plan to announce their respective candidates simultaneously in Kota Kinabalu soon.
He said Sabah BN will present about 80% of new faces as candidates for GE15.
Earlier in his opening speech, Bung urged Kinabatangan Umno members to play an active role in defending the party, especially on social media.
“We have an advantage, because our numbers are bigger. Yet that doesn’t show on social media.
“Every time BN leaders are attacked by Facebook users, I see nobody saying anything to defend our leaders.
“Yet when I see you (Umno members), you are looking at your phones all the time.
“You don’t have to be afraid to defend our party. Please, Parliament has been dissolved.
“Play an active role as Umno members and defend Umno.” – The Vibes, October 15, 2022
