IPOH – Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has assured that he would lead the government if the coalition wins the 15th general election (GE15).

Commenting on the collapse of the PH administration under Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s tenure, Anwar pinned the blame on the incumbent Langkawi MP who had failed the people and the coalition.

“That was PH under Mahathir. This time it’s different.

“This time, it’s me leading PH (administration) – god willing – if we are able to form a government this November 20,” he said during a speech during a meet and greet with the Indian community near Kg Lim Tan here today.

Anwar then stressed that PH deserves to lead again as they propose a new deal that will benefit all Malaysians rather than propagating ethnocentric policies.

The opposition leader also dismissed allegations thrown by Perikatan Nasional (PN) that he had “made a deal” with Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, alluding to a possible political alliance between PH and Barisan Nasional (BN).

“What nonsense! I am a pious man, I have principles, I would not engage in such things.

“Why are they peddling this? This is because these people have no ammunition against me,” he said.

Anwar then claimed that PN and BN had failed Malaysians as they were unable to enact proper policies and measures to push the country out of the current economic doldrums caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the event today, Anwar also witnessed some 480 MIC members defect to join PH, citing that BN failed to address the concerns of the Indian community within Ulu Kinta.

In his speech earlier, Anwar reiterated PH’s multicultural platform and assured that all races, including the Malays, will be cared for. – The Vibes, November 4, 2022
