KINABATANGAN – An unexpected twist took place in Kinabatangan as Warisan candidate Mohd Ismail Ayob who was supposed to go against Umno’s Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin was not present during nomination day in Dewan Sri Kinabatangan here.

Instead, the party’s supreme council member Mazliwati Abdul Malek Chua came to the centre to submit her nomination papers under the Warisan banner.

Sources from the Election Commission told the media that it was because Mohd Ismail had a problem with his insolvency record, but the matter has yet to be officially confirmed.

Bung Moktar later arrived at around 8.45am with about 500 Umno supporters dressed in blue, singing and chanting “Bung! Bung! Bung!”.

The Umno veteran entered the hall at 9am, about the same time as Mazliwati.
