KLANG – Although immensely popular incumbent Charles Santiago is out of the running for the parliamentary seat here, Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) candidate Ganabatirau Veraman is confident the voters will continue to support the coalition’s reform agenda.
Speaking to The Vibes during the nomination day at Dewan MPK here, he said, “The spirit is very high for PH in Klang. It’s true the vibration and mood in 2018 is missing but the spirit is still very high.”
“As a Harapan candidate, I have always received a warm welcome from the people. Their aspiration for a change of government in Putrajaya is still there.”
Ganabatirau is fending off challenges for the seat as voters were initially unhappy with the decision to not field favourite Santiago.
“I have been welcomed by all sections of people during my walkabouts. I am a Kota Kemuning assemblyman here too.”
He then credited his predecessor Santiago for serving the people tirelessly.
“My former colleague, Charles Santiago has done a good job of connecting the people here with the local NGOs, churches and community leaders. He has done a good service to the public especially when floods happened in Klang.
“He is a well-spoken man who raised public concerns many times in Parliament and the media. I have met him in person and appealed to him to support, campaign and walk with me which he promised he will get back to me.” – The Vibes, November 5, 2022
