KULAI – The Johor Housing Rejuvenation or the new Johor housing policy that was launched today is an initiative by the state government to encourage housing developers in the state to construct Johor Affordable Homes (RMMJ), said State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor.
Jafni said the renewal of the policy was a service delivery initiative known as “quick wins” between developers and buyers.
He said that through the new Johor housing policy, the state government is targeting 21,000 units of RMMJ, with prices set at RM150,000, RM80,000, and RM42,000.
“The launching of the rejuvenation or transformation of houses in Johor is one of the important matters the state government is focusing on to increase the number of affordable homes in the state at the stated prices.
“For this year, we targeted 2,400 units but we have already surpassed it,” he told reporters after the New Johor Housing Policy pre-launch officiated by Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi at IOI Galleria, Bandar Putra here today.
Jafni said one of the other changes under the new policy is the reduced number of documents needed to apply for People’s Housing Projects (PPR) and RMMJ.
Previously, PPR applicants had to produce 23 documents but now only six are needed, while for RMMJ, they only need to provide five documents compared with 17 last time.
He also said applicants, who used to pay between RM300 and RM500 per application previously, will not have to pay a single sen now as all applications can be done online.
“As for the application for the RM1,000 incentive voucher, Johor folk only need to produce two documents now compared with six previously while the payment will be directly credited in less than two weeks,” he said.
“As for developers, the waiting period for applications for Bumiputera lots will only take seven days compared with 180 previously, while the offer letters will be issued in just one day compared to 60 days,” he said.
Jafni said those who have trouble obtaining financing and bank loans can also breathe easy following the collaboration between the Johor State Housing Development Corporation and Syarikat Jaminan Kredit Perumahan as well as Bank Simpanan Nasional, Bank Muamalat and Bank Rakyat. – Bernama, November 10, 2022
