IPOH – Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali again reiterated that his former mentor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim repeatedly “betrayed” the people by asking democratically elected representatives to vacate their seats to fit his supposed political ambitions.

Azmin was asked how PN plans to counter the narrative of Si Kitol and Raja Mendeliar, a historical tale of the dangers of treachery recently used by PKR president Anwar during his campaign speeches in Tambun.

Both historical figures have been attributed to the fall of the Melaka Sultanate and often been labelled traitors. This tale has become a talking point among the Malay constituents in rural Tambun.

An irate Azmin alleged that it was also Anwar who initiated the Selangor menteri besar crisis in 2013, popularly known as the Kajang Move, as well as the Port Dickson Move in 2018.

“During the Kajang Move, why did Anwar force the elected representative C.C. Lee, who is still alive, to vacate the seat just because he wanted to become the menteri besar?

“Isn’t that an act of betrayal? Tell me… When Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim was in office, you wanted to overthrow him through undemocratic means. He (Anwar) is the father of all traitors.

“And then he went in (to prison), and then he parked his wife there but she didn’t make it as menteri besar either,” said Azmin, referring to Anwar’s wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The Selangor menteri besar crisis in 2014 concluded when Azmin was appointed as menteri besar.

Similarly, Azmin chided Anwar for asking former Port Dickson MP Danyal Balagopal Abdullah to vacate his seat.

“Then he (Anwar) launched another move, the PD (Port Dickson) move, but none of you are discussing the PD move. The elected representative is still alive, but because Anwar was so ambitious to become PM, he forced the MP to resign. Isn’t that an act of betrayal? And yet he did not become PM,” he said.

Azmin then said that throughout the Sheraton Move in February 2020, no one forced Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to resign as prime minister, and that the Langkawi MP had done so of his own volition. – The Vibes, November 11, 2022
