KOTA DAMANSARA – It is baffling that the Election Commission (EC) has selected a flood-prone field in Lembah Pantai as a venue for two polling centres.

Incumbent MP and Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Fahmi Fadzil said he has raised his concerns with the EC.

“Not one but two centres are located in that football field in Kg Pasir,” PKR’s Fahmi told a crowd at a ceramah programme here tonight.

“When I asked the EC, they told me ‘don’t worry, we will put up tents and planks as platforms’. Don’t they realise if it floods, everything will be washed away?”

Fahmi alluded to the fact that despite being a safety hazard to the voters, it may also frustrate the voting process should the polling centres be flooded on election day next Saturday.

Some 10,000 voters are expected to cast their ballots at these two polling centres.

He was in Kota Damansara to support PH’s Sg Buloh parliamentary candidate Datuk R. Ramanan, who hopes to maintain PKR’s stronghold, a seat it has held for three terms since 2008.

Ramanan’s main contender in the seven-cornered fight appears to be Barisan Nasional’s Khairy Jamaluddin. – The Vibes, November 12, 2022
