MIRI – Some 530 people in Long Bemang, Baram have been evacuated after their longhouses were inundated, said Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department today.

“Our Marudi station received an emergency alert and a unit was deployed. However, the journey took about six hours by road.

“Long Bemang is flooded and the water level is rising in the settlement, affecting 103 households with 530 people.”

Meanwhile, Jalan Merurup and Kg Merasam on the outskirts of Limbang town are badly affected by flash floods, cutting off several roads as waters continue to rise.
