PETALING JAYA  – The Election Commission (EC) has been accused of resorting to dirty tricks and delay tactics to frustrate voters.

Sg Buloh Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Datuk R. Ramanan claims voters here in Streams 4 and 5 are being subjected to long verification processes which sees them waiting up to five hours before casting their vote.

“People are tired, no drinks, no food, no chairs to sit on. What is the EC trying to do?” a visibly livid Ramanan told reporters at SMK Seksyen 8, Kota Damansara here this afternoon.

“We have received many complaints from counting agents and voters that the EC is deliberately making them wait for three to five hours to vote,” he said, adding that the issue seems to be  contained in Seksyen 8 and Seksyen 6 here.

He claimed an EC officer even told him that voters are given between 57 seconds to a minute to vote.

“There are 8,300 voters here! How is that possible?”

Several other voters listening in, chimed in with one man saying he had been waiting for three hours, while another who was with his wife and young family said they have yet to eat or have any refreshments.

“This is cruel. How can the EC do this?  What is their agenda? They are supposed to be fair.

“Is the EC colluding with Barisan Nasional (BN) to frustrate voters so they will get tired and go back?

“I am not afraid to say it. This is resorting to dirty tricks and delay tactics where voters say their names are even spelt out alphabet by alphabet.

“What nonsense is this?”

Sg Buloh sees one of the toughest fights between Ramanan and caretaker health minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Voter turnout this election is at an all time high with almost 50% of the 22 million voters already casting their vote by 2pm. – The Vibes, November 19, 2022
