KOTA KINABALU – Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said he and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg will form the Borneo Bloc to support whichever alliances forming the federal government.
He said GRS and Barisan Nasional won 13 seats, plus one from Perikatan Nasional via the Beluran seat.
“I have discussed with Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg and we have agreed to support the government which will be formed at the federal level in order to bring about stability in politics, not just for the country but also for Sabah,” he told reporters at the chief minister’s official residence Sri Gaya here tonight.
“These seats will be given to a government which could bring about stability to our country,” he added.
Hajiji said he and Abang Johari want to work together as a Borneo Bloc to support the incoming federal government, and in return, Sabah and Sarawak will benefit from their support.
Hajiji refused to say which peninsula political alliances they want to work with, maintaining the cooperation is open to any political groups that will form the federal government.
“We cannot say it here now because we have not received the official results of the election.
“Only after this we will do another statement to make our stand clearer,” said Hajiji.
Hajiji however refuses to respond on how the BN seats, saying that in Sabah both GRS and BN are partners in the government. – The Vibes, November 20, 2022
