KOTA KINABALU – Warisan, which pushed for the Borneo Bloc concept, saw the biggest upset in the 15th general election.

Not only did the party lose all 26 seats it contested in the peninsula, it only won three federal seats in Sabah, a far cry from the eight the party won in the previous election.

Warisan was also contesting all 25 Sabah seats and one in Labuan.

The party was the biggest single party from Sabah with the most parliamentary seats in the 14th general election.

Warisan only retains Kota Belud via Isnairaissah Munirah Majilis, Semporna via party president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, and Lahad Datu via Shafie’s brother, Datuk Mohd Yusof Apdal.

It saw its biggest loss in Penampang, where Warisan deputy president Datuk Darell Leiking, the incumbent, lost to Pakatan Harapan’s Upko candidate Datuk Ewon Benedick’s resounding 14,410-vote majority.

Party leader Datuk Azis Jamman also lost in the election to Pakatan Harapan’s PKR candidate Mustapha Sakmud.

Mustapha won the seat with a 7,042-vote majority of 27,022, trailed by Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Yakub Khan, who garnered 19,980 votes.

Azis garnered 19,594 votes.

Papar incumbent Ahmad Hassan also lost to newcomer Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

Armizan garnered 22,620 votes, 12,244 over Ahmad’s 10,396 votes.

Meanwhile, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah candidate Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan captured Batu Sapi, which was left vacant following the death of its incumbent Datuk Liew Vui Keong.

Andi Muhamad Suryady Bandy beat Warisan’s Kalabakan candidate Ma’mun Sulaiman with a 9,100 vote-majority.

Andi garnered 23,855 votes while Ma’mun took 14,755 votes.

Warisan party whip Datuk Rozman Isli also lost to Perikatan Nasional candidate Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman via split votes.

Rozman came in third with only 7,310 votes while Suhaili won 8,124 votes, followed by Barisan Nasional candidate Bashir Alias, who garnered 7,416 votes.

Party president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal had earlier planned for a press conference but later called it off.
