KUALA LUMPUR – Popular preacher Ebit Lew had shared obscene images and lewd messages to a complainant through WhatsApp, according to a testimony by fellow preacher Firdaus Wong.
Wong, 39, who is a prosecution witness in Lew’s sexual harassment trial, claimed that he had seen for himself images of male private parts and incriminating texts in the conversation between Lew and the complainant.
He said the materials were shown to him by the complainant herself after he had met her and her husband following the duo lodging a police report against Lew on August 7, 2021.
“Some of the messages sent by Lew include an audio message from (Lew) to the complainant where he asked her to ‘show (her) feet a bit’.
“Other texts urged the complainant to ‘ask (her) husband to divorce her, (and that Lew) will pay (her),” he said when questioned by deputy public prosecutor Zahida Zakaria before magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani at the Tenom magistrate court today.
Motivational expert Mohd Fairuz Abu, 37, the first prosecution witness in the trial, had earlier denied attempting to damage Lew’s reputation, claiming instead that Wong was the one to publicise the issue on social media.
Lew, 37, faces 11 charges under Section 509 of the Penal Code for sending obscene photo(s) and words intended to insult one’s modesty through WhatsApp.
The charge provides for a prison sentence of up to five years or a fine, or both, upon conviction. – The Vibes, December 20, 2022
