KUALA LUMPUR – The Skip Stop Xpress bus service, which takes passengers from the Ampang LRT station to the KLCC and Ampang Park stations, will be extended till April 14.
The bus service, which started in May last year and is still under the proof of concept (PoC) phase, has been extended following satisfactory response from commuters as well as the RM1.90 fare for a one-way trip being maintained.
In a statement today, Rapid Bus chief executive officer Muhammad Yazurin Sallij said the bus service is part of an initial study to compile data for long-term improvements in an integrated manner aimed at improving the quality of Rapid KL services from the Ampang area towards the city centre.
He said the increasingly crowded Ampang area needs a better public transport network and Rapid Bus has collaborated with the local authorities to overcome the problem.
“We urge more residents in the Ampang area to take this opportunity to use the Skip Stop Xpress bus service to head into the city centre.
“This easy and economical trip can help ease their (residents’) daily expenses, and by using public transport, people can also contribute to the reduction of carbon gas emissions in the Klang Valley,” he said.
The Skip Stop Xpress bus service operates during peak hours from Mondays to Fridays – from 6.30am to 8am and 5.30pm to 7.15pm.
Yazurin said his team also aims to continue the Skip Stop Xpress bus service at the Ampang LRT as a normal operation after the PoC is over, in addition to considering PoCs in other locations. – Bernama, January 20, 2023
