Political nonsense must stop: Umno’s Armand lodges report against Hadi

KUALA LUMPUR – An Umno Supreme Council member has lodged a police report against PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang over a statement that supposedly points to plans to topple the unity government and threatens the country’s political stability

After yesterday’s report, Umno’s Datuk Armand Azha Abu Hanifah said this was done so police will investigate Hadi’s statement.

“In our current political situation, we need stability. We do not want divisiveness because the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has consented to this unity government.”

Armand added that Hadi’s statement could trigger instability, which would impact the economy and the people.

“We want to stabilise the country’s economy, but with such a statement (by Hadi), how do we attract foreign investors to Malaysia?” he said after lodging the report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters.

“It’s not the time to play politics. We can fight it out in the coming state elections. Stop this political nonsense, it’s time for us to work together.”

On Monday, Hadi defended the opposition’s democratic right to overthrow the government, and that such a move is “normal” among opposition blocs in democratic nations.

“We (Perikatan Nasional) are trying (to overthrow the government) not just through general elections, but also through Parliament. 

“We have a right towards such plans. No one can stop us from planning (a coup).”

Commenting on claims that a coup would contradict the king’s proposal for a unity government, Hadi said the Agong’s decree was not a “final say” in preventing democratic changes in the country. – The Vibes, March 11, 2023
