KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin has warned the government that its series of oppressive actions against the coalition will come back to haunt them.
Addressing delegates at Bersatu’s annual general assembly, Hamzah said the rakyat today are smart enough to draw their own conclusion over the slanderous statements issued and injustices committed by those in power.
“A cruel government will not last long. Oppression after oppression, filled with revenge, will only strangle its own neck,” he said in his winding up speech, here, today.
Training his gun at the unity government comprising Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN), Hamzah lamented how Bersatu and PN have been the subject of cruelty.
In particular, he accused the administration of abusing government agencies with the single goal of assassinating the characters of PN leaders.
“They are committing selective prosecution, motivated by politics. But trust me, we are on the right side!”
Among others, Hamzah claimed that authorities investigating cases involving PN leaders had rushed to prosecute them even before completing investigations.
He noted how when PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was charged in court on Friday, the prosecution had failed to furnish documents pertaining to the case as requested by the defence team.
“What does this mean? It means they are only interested in political persecution, in order to damage Bersatu and PN’s image.”
Hamzah said allegations against PN leaders are nothing more than to cover up the government’s own weaknesses and failure to properly govern the country.
“But the rakyat is not stupid. They can differentiate diamonds from glass. The rakyat know which (party) is merely an empty can, and which is truly qualified to lead the nation.
“The evidence is there. Since Thursday, a basketful of criticisms and curses have been hurled towards the prime minister (over the suggestion to use Employees Provident Fund savings as collateral for bank loans).”
Separately, Hamzah rallied all Bersatu members to be fully prepared to face the coming state elections in Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan.
He said the coming polls will not only determine the party’s future survival and direction, but will also determine how long the federal government is able to remain in power.
“It is incumbent on us to be prepared for war, for the sake of defending the truth. God willing, we will defend Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, but we will also wrest Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Penang.” – The Vibes, March 12, 2023
