KUALA LUMPUR – The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) has been instructed to investigate the organising of the “Thai Hot Guys” event, which was reportedly set to be being held in the capital on March 30.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said the organising of the said event was contrary to Islamic teachings and moral values of the community.
“In the situation of Muslims welcoming the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, the organisation of the event is highly irresponsible,” he said in a statement here today.
Na’im said Jawi, as a religious authority of the Federal Territories, will not compromise with any activity that is against the teachings of Islam and existing laws.
He added that his department had also received reports from the community regarding the event, which was scheduled to take place at a venue in Jalan Tun Razak, here.
On Sunday, the event was advertised on social media. It apparently was set to feature several hunky Thai males dressed in female clothing, known as Thai Hot Guys, thus inviting much negative reaction from the public. – Bernama, March 22, 2023
