KUALA LUMPUR – Operations at six stations along the Ampang LRT line – Bandaraya, Sultan Ismail, PWTC, Titiwangsa, Sentul, and Sentul Timur – will resume at 6am tomorrow.

This is after the completion of temporary structural repairs near the Bandaraya station, said rail operator Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd in a statement today.

Tomorrow’s service will also be using replacement trains as those needing maintenance have been sent to the depot in Ampang.

With the resumption of service at the six LRT stations, buses servicing the LRT 11, 13, and 14 routes will be ended.

Ampang LRT’s service disruption started in late January due to safety factors resulting from a kinked track alignment near the Bandaraya station, which was due to structural damage to the flyover in the area as a result of nearby construction work.

Meanwhile, phase two of comprehensive repairs will be completed in mid-October, and the Ampang/Sri Petaling LRT line will resume its regular service – pending evaluation and approval from the authorities involved.

Rapid Rail will also reactivate the free feeder bus service for the LRT 10 route, connecting the Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya LRT stations. This involves 10 buses with a 10-minute interval.

The operator also advised commuters to use the KL Monorail and MRT Putrajaya via the Titiwangsa station to head to Hang Tuah and Chan Sow Lin, respectively,

Last month, Transport Minister Anthony Loke confirmed that Prasarana Malaysia Bhd would be initiating legal action over service disruptions on the Ampang LRT line.

This is to regain losses incurred due to structural repairs to six stops between the line’s Bandaraya and Masjid Jamek stations.

In February, Loke said that strengthening and comprehensive repair works on the affected stations were expected to be completed in September
