PETALING JAYA – DAP is bending backwards and stooping too low to please Umno, culminating in the party being called “Umno’s lapdog”, said MCA.

MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker said DAP was now playing the victim and feeling insulted when at the receiving end of name-calling.

“DAP has been repeatedly calling MCA names and labelling the party as ‘Umno’s running dog’. However, we have been vindicated and proven to be doing what is politically correct and constitutionally provided.

“When Tunku Abdul Rahman replaced English as the official language and made Bahasa Malaysia as the official medium, MCA was called ‘Umno’s running dog’ by DAP leaders and when Tun Abdul Razak introduced the New Economic Policy (NEP), National Cultural Policies and Bumiputera quotas, MCA was again accused of ‘selling out the Chinese rights’ and a ‘running dog’.

“And again when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim introduced ‘nationalism’ and ‘Islamisation’, DAP accused MCA of trying to Melayukan (Malay-nise) Chinese and not protecting the Chinese identity,” he said.

However, Ti said when DAP tasted power in 2018, they introduced Jawi khat and now they introduced the 40 Hadith modules.

“But MCA does not call them names like ‘puppy’ or ‘bitch’. DAP even made a complete reversal by embracing Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi whom they had previously labelled as ‘Indon’, ‘kleptocrat’ and many other names. They have instead shifted their attack on Tan Sri (Abdul) Hadi Awang and PAS in a similar attack on Umno as before.

“The recent DNAA (discharge not amounting to acquittal) of Zahid caused public uproar and a public sense of desperation. DAP supporters despaired and felt cheated and scammed.

“What’s a ‘lapdog’ compared to being called a ‘running dog’ for having the foresight to acknowledge and accept the political reality of the times? DAP realised too late and it is now ‘copying and pasting’ MCA’s past narratives of sacrifices and compromises for the sake of national unity and harmony,” he claimed.

Quoting the late Datuk Seri Utama Karpal Singh, a former DAP leader, who had said that Anwar and the Lim father-and-son team (Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng) must “bertaubat” (repent), Ti said DAP must show remorse and apologise to MCA.

“DAP must ‘bertaubat’ to be clean and trusted again,” he added. – The Vibes, September 11, 2023
