IPOH – An endangered Malayan tiger was killed after it was believed to have been hit by a heavy vehicle along the North-South Expressway in Gopeng.

Perak Science, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman Teh Kok Lim said the incident is believed to have occurred near the Gua Tempurung rest area.

“The adult male tiger was found dead in the middle of the highway barrier.

“We believe it was killed while trying to cross the road about 12.30am today,” he said.

Initial information revealed that the tiger was eight to 10 years old.

The carcass has since been sent to the National Wildlife Rescue Centre for further action. – The Vibes, November 9, 2023
