THE rift between President Donald Trump and businessman Elon Musk has intensified as Musk criticized the "one big beautiful bill," calling it "debt slavery.

According to reports, Musk warned that the bill could bankrupt America and urged members of Congress who support it to "hang their heads in shame."

He also pledged to back primary challenges against those in favor and suggested forming a new political party, "The America Party," if the bill passes.

“If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day,” Musk said.

He also posted that he would contribute to the re-election campaign for Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, who has been one of the few Republican voices in Congress to take a stand against the bill. Trump has publicly scolded Massie for his opposition.

Musk on Monday said he would use his vast resources to launch primary campaigns against Republicans in Congress who voted for the massive domestic policy agenda.

The relationship between Musk and Trump has soured since the early months of Trump's second term, when they were nearly inseparable.

When asked by reporters later in the morning if he would deport Musk, Trump said, "We'll have to take a look."

"We might have to put DOGE on Elon," he said, referring to the Department of Government Efficiency that Musk previously spearheaded as a special government employee.

"So tempting to escalate this. So, so tempting. But I will refrain for now," Musk wrote. - July 2, 2025
