SUPER League team Kuala Lumpur City FC has been fined RM50,000 and docked six points by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) for submitting inaccurate declarations in its application for this season’s national and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) licences.
The club has also been prohibited from making player transfers until the end of the 2024/2025 season for violating the terms of the national licence application.
The club was fined another RM50,000 and barred from applying for the AFC licence for two cycles beginning with the coming season. Its current AFC licence for the 2024/2025 season was cancelled.
A statement from the MFL said KL City is wholly responsible for the submission of documents and the overall integrity of the documents provided to the First Instance Body (FIB), an independent body appointed by the MFL to investigate the declarations of arrears from KL City.
The FIB review found the club had submitted inaccurate information in documents involving the Inland Revenue Board, EPF, and Social Security Organisation contributions. The veracity of documents submitted previously could also not be ascertained.
The MFL board of directors may take follow-up action against KL City for the offences if necessary.
KL City is currently third in the Super League with 11 points after six matches. – August 6, 2024.
