PKR Information chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil will retain uncontested the post of Lembah Pantai PKR division chief at the party elections next month.

The Communications Minister and Lembah Pantai MP said as of the nomination deadline at midnight on Sunday, no candidates had submitted nominations to contest the position, which he first won in the 2018 PKR election.

On some divisions seeing up to seven nominations for the division chief post, Fahmi said this was part of democracy, which allows any eligible individual to contest for party positions.

"What matters most, whether at the division or central level, is to compete in a healthy manner, avoid engaging in prohibited activities or breaking the law, and uphold the spirit of camaraderie and brotherhood,” he said.

Recently, Fahmi announced that he would be contesting for the PKR vice-president post in the elections in May.

PKR has scheduled the elections for its Central Leadership Council (CLC), Women’s Central Leadership, and Central Youth Wing to take place on May 24.

Meanwhile, the Division, Women’s Division and Youth Wing Division leadership elections will be held from April 11 to 20. - March 18, 2025
