WARISAN today re-iterated that its doors remain shut to any talk of electoral cooperation, making it clear that the party will contest Sabah’s 17th state election on its own.
Party information chief, Datuk Azis Jamman, said the party has taken note of remarks from Perikatan Nasional (PN) suggesting possible collaborations but stressed Warisan’s stand remains unchanged.
“From the very beginning, we have been clear. Under the leadership of Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, Warisan will contest the coming election independently, under our own logo,” he said.
Azis also dismissed speculation of behind-the-scenes talks with PN, GRS or other coalitions.
“There are no negotiations, no discussions, and no arrangements of any kind. Any suggestion of a backdoor alliance is baseless,” he said.
He added that Warisan’s only commitment is to the people of Sabah, not to political expediency.
“Our focus is on addressing Sabahans’ challenges, the rising costs of living, lack of infrastructure, unreliable electricity and water, limited job opportunities, and the long-overdue demands for our rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” Azis said.
At a time when political deals and shifting loyalties dominate the landscape, Azis said Warisan chose to stay consistent and principled.
“Our direction is clear — to contest solo and to provide Sabahans with a government that puts their welfare first,” he said.
Warisan remains confident, he added, that voters will once again trust the party to deliver a fairer and more prosperous future for the state.
PN chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan when asked by reporters in Kota Bahru, Kelantan on Saturday did not dismiss possibilities of working with Warisan in the state election.
"We will not go solo, as solo parties are no longer relevant in today's political environment. That is why even smaller parties are joining alliances," said Takiyuddin. - August 23, 2025
