BARISAN Nasional (BN) accepts with open hearts any decision made by its component parties, including MIC.
Its chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, stressed that the BN leadership respects the voices of its delegates and the party's stance.
“I was closely following the debates in their General Assembly.
“I respect whatever decisions are made by the MIC delegates and leadership, and I have no intention of interfering in their internal affairs.
“Whatever decisions are made, we accept them with open arms,” he said when met after opening the Global China Economic & Technology Summit (GCET 2025) in Kuala Lumpur, today.
Commenting on the statement by BN Deputy Chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, yesterday, regarding BN holding discussions with the MIC top leadership after the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN), Zahid said that the move was the best approach.
“That is the best approach and whatever the decision, it is up to the party concerned,” he explained.
Yesterday, Mohamad was reported to have said that the discussions were aimed at clearing up any confusion or misunderstanding regarding MIC’s position within BN.
Earlier, BN Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir reprimanded MIC President, Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran for openly criticising Zahid for allegedly ignoring the party’s interests.
Zambry described Vigneswaran’s criticism during the recent MIC AGM as “unjustified”.
At the AGM last Sunday, Vigneswaran blamed Zahid for allegedly failing to defend MIC's interests, leading to the party being marginalised in the government.
He also criticised BN's decision to work with Pakatan Harapan, claiming it was done to safeguard UMNO's survival and not BN's collective future. - November 19, 2025
