POLICE are tracking a man who reportedly molested a woman in front of a supermarket in Medan Idaman, Jalan Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday morning.

At the time of the 5.15am incident, the victim, a 22-year-old local woman, was reportedly sleeping in a car in the parking lot of the area.

Wangsa Maju District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail, said the male suspect, believed to be a local, entered the victim's car before the victim woke up.

"The suspect, who was disguised as a policeman, covered the victim's mouth and grabbed her private parts.

"The victim, who was in a state of shock, screamed before the suspect punched her in the left eye," he said in a statement today. Mohamad Lazim said that as a result of the punch, the victim's eye was swollen.

The suspect fled on a motorcycle.

"The police are tracking down the suspect based on information and leads at the scene of the incident, and the case is being investigated under Section 323/354 of the Penal Code," he said. – January 14, 2026
