THE Certified Integrity Officer (CeIO) Convocation ceremony in Bangi today was held under tight security following the presence of the Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Tan Sri Azam Baki.

It is understood that the security measures were enhanced to prevent a repeat of the chaos that occurred during the Wacana Ilmiah program at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) on April 7.

A check at the location found that each entrance was guarded by the MACC Special Tactical Squad (ACTS) team, in addition to the presence of auxiliary police and Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel.

Media personnel who attended were also required to undergo a registration process and were only allowed to cover the event after being given a special pass.

The ceremony, which began at 8.30 am, went smoothly without any unwanted disruptions.

Previously, the media reported that Azam was believed to have been disturbed by two individuals while he was speaking at the Wacana Ilmiah Perdana program at WTCKL.

The two individuals were reported to have suddenly stood up while holding up banners containing criticism against him, as well as chanting several statements.

The situation turned tense when one of the individuals involved screamed and tried to rush towards the stage before security quickly acted to detain him. – April 14, 2026
