IN yet another suspected drunk-driving accident, a 21-year-old mother died after her motorcycle was hit by a car suspected of being driven by a drunk man in an accident on Jalan Ujong Pasir, in Banda Hilir, Melaka, this morning.

In the incident at about 3.10 am, the victim, Nur Aleya Natasha Roslan, was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe head and leg injuries.

It is understood that the victim had a two-year-old child.

Melaka Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, said the accident is believed to have occurred when a Perodua Myvi car driven by a 23-year-old man lost control.

“The car, from Banda Hilir towards Serkam, is believed to have entered the opposite lane before colliding with the victim’s motorcycle.

“The victim’s body was sent to the Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem,” he told reporters today.

He said the driver involved, however, did not suffer any injuries and was detained to assist in the investigation.

“The results of a urine test found the driver to be negative for drugs, and a blood sample was also taken for further analysis.

“Both vehicles were detained for further examination, and efforts to trace witnesses and closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings are underway,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Earlier, the incident, which was allegedly caused by a drunk driver, went viral on social media.

It was recently reported that a married couple was killed, believed to have been hit by a driver under the influence of alcohol on Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

The incident occurred at 5.34 am last Saturday near the Great Eastern Tower, after a Honda Wave Alpha motorcycle ridden by a married couple aged 61 and 56 was hit by a Toyota Vios car driven by a 24-year-old local man.

As a result, both victims suffered serious head injuries and were confirmed dead at the scene. – May 5, 2026
