BARISAN Nasional (BN) assemblymen have rejected speculation that Pakatan Harapan (PH) representatives will be included in the Negeri Sembilan state executive council (Exco), describing the claims as baseless.
Johol assemblyman Datuk Saiful Yazan Sulaiman said the allegations circulating on social media were untrue, adding that any proposal to include PH representatives in the state administration would have first been discussed with BN assemblymen.
"It is not true that PH representatives will join the Exco line-up. If such a matter had taken place, it would certainly have been discussed beforehand with BN assemblymen who recently won the state election.
"This matter is not true and has never been discussed at all until today," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Saiful Yazan urged all parties to give Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim the space to carry out his duties and fulfil the mandate entrusted to him.
"The people have already made their choice. Now we must continue working and not waste time playing politics all the time," he said.
Linggi assemblyman Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli also dismissed the speculation, saying there had been no discussions on appointing PH representatives to the Exco after BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) formed the state government.
"BN and PN worked together in the state election and have now formed the government. Why would PH suddenly be involved in the Exco appointments?
"As of today, I have not heard of any discussion on the matter. The claim is clearly baseless," he said.
Mohd Faizal said such claims appeared aimed at undermining public confidence in the new state government, which holds a two-thirds majority in the state assembly.
"The voters have rejected PH. Stories like this are only meant to stir public anger against the government," he said.
Lenggeng assemblyman Datuk Mohd Asna Amin said appointing PH representatives to the Exco would go against the mandate given by voters.
"We campaigned on the blue wave against the red wave.
"If we join hands with them after winning, the people will lose confidence in us," he said.
He urged all parties to stop politicising the matter and allow Ismail to focus on implementing the coalition's election manifesto.
Mohd Asna also dismissed claims by former Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Mohd Rais Yatim that there had been outside interference in the appointment of the Menteri Besar, saying BN president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had respected the authority of the Negeri Sembilan royal institution and acted in accordance with established procedures.
Speculation had emerged that PH assemblymen could be offered positions in the state administration under Ismail's leadership.
The Menteri Besar had earlier said the Exco line-up would be announced as soon as possible, either on Friday or by Monday next week.
In the Negeri Sembilan state election, BN and PN secured a combined 25 seats in the 36-member state assembly, allowing them to form the state government, while PH won 11 seats. - August 5, 2026
