KUALA LUMPUR – The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) has so far received 98,166 vaccination applications from pregnant women, said National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said their respective vaccination dates will be issued in stages depending on their expected delivery date.
“As of the end of last week, CITF has issued 3,000 appointments in Kuala Lumpur and 224 in Perlis. This week, we will have special vaccination sessions at both places.
“Applications in other states are being processed, and CITF will issue the appointment dates in view of their expected date of delivery soon.”
He added that CITF has also approved 5,621 vaccination applications for students pursuing studies abroad.
“The average vaccination rate last week increased, with a total of 189,329 compared with 130,842 in the previous week.
“Senior citizens will continue to be prioritised once they are registered,” he said at a joint press conference with Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba in Putrajaya today.
Khairy said according to government estimations, at least 10% of the population will be fully vaccinated by the middle of next month.
The government aims to dispense some eight million Covid-19 vaccine doses this month, with a target of 10.7 million doses by mid-July, he added.
“At present, for every 100 doses being administered, 30 are for the second dose.
“Therefore, to reach full immunisation of 10% of the population, or 3.2 million people, we need to administer roughly 10.7 million doses.”
The 10% vaccinated population target is among the conditions required to activate Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan, with the others being a drop in daily cases to below 4,000 and the healthcare system no longer being at a critical level. – The Vibes, June 21, 2021
