KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia has again logged fewer than 5,000 daily Covid-19 cases with 4,743 infections today, bringing the total caseload to 705,762.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 1,566, followed by Kuala Lumpur (635), Negri Sembilan (585), Sarawak (507) and Johor (239).

States that have fewer than 200 infections are Penang (195), Sabah (193), Melaka (167), Kelantan (165), Kedah (142), Labuan (104), Pahang (131), Perak (68), Terengganu (37), Putrajaya (7) and Perlis (2).

Of the fresh infections logged, two are imported cases, 875 are in intensive care, and 445 are on ventilation support.

Seventy-seven fatalities were reported, bringing the death toll to 4,554.

Meanwhile, the country recorded 5,557 recoveries today, adding up to a total of 639,181 patients discharged since the beginning of the pandemic.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham said of today’s 77 deaths, 32 were recorded in Selangor, 12 in Negri Sembilan, eight in Johor and seven in Sarawak.

Kuala Lumpur has five deaths, four in Melaka, and three each in Sabah and Labuan, while Pahang, Perlis, and Terengganu logged one death each.

Meanwhile, 10 victims were listed as not having known comorbidities, and the youngest was 25 years old.

He said 13 new clusters today were workplace related, five from the community, while higher education, detention centre, and high-risk groups had one cluster each.

In Selangor, the Jalan Persiaran Enam cluster in Kuala Selangor recorded 14 cases, the Industri SS Lapan Sungai Way cluster in Petaling, Klang, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Selangor, Gombak, and Hulu Langat logged 97 cases, and the Tapak Bina Laluan Klang construction site cluster in Klang has 24 cases.

Also in Selangor, the Jalan Permata 22 cluster in Gombak logged 14 cases, the Industri Kg Bukit Angkat cluster in Hulu Langat recorded 28 cases, while the Jalan Kebun Baru cluster Kuala Langat recorded 10 cases, and the Tembok Ulu Teris cluster in Sepang with 16 cases.

KL recorded the Taman Pusat Kepong cluster in Kepong with 22 cases, the Jalan Kepong Usaha cluster in Kepong with 29 cases, the Jalan Tasik Selatan cluster in Cheras with 15 cases, and the Jalan Sri Hartamas cluster in Kepong with 21 cases.

Negri Sembilan has the Industri Jalan Teknologi Lima Nilai cluster in Seremban and Port Dickson with 30 cases, and the Industri Jalan Senawang Empat cluster in Seremban, Jempol, Kuala Pilah, and Rembau with 13 cases.

Johor recorded the Jalan Maju Lima cluster in Johor Baru and Kota Tinggi with 35 cases.

Kelantan registered the Kg Bukit Tanah cluster in Pasir Puteh with 11 cases, the Kg Kubang Hakim cluster in Pasir May with 10 cases, and the Kg Pulau Tukang Dollah cluster in Kota Baru with 41 cases.

Sarawak recorded the Lunyim cluster in Telang Usan with 21 cases, and the Sg Long Seripa cluster in Sebauh with 40 cases.

Kedah logged the Dah Perdana Tinggi cluster in Kulim with 15 cases.

Melaka recorded the Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho cluster in Melaka Tengah with 26 cases. – The Vibes, June 22, 2021
